New notes as of Monday 8/24/26

Hello Team!

• As school starts for some schools, we expect the center to slow down a little bit. Please use slow times for extra cleaning (dusting, animal cages, windows, etc.)

• Center is CLOSED 9/7 - 9/11 for cleaning and organizing - a staff schedule will be posted soon for that, but most hours will be greatly reduced that week.

• 9/12/26 - Back to School Summer Wrap Up Party at Cognition

• 9/13 - Staff tubing down the Platte River! Please RSVP by 9/2 so we know who all to plan for… HERE is a link to the form

• Thank you all for working on getting your own coverage if you can’t work a scheduled shift. Please also let Marley know when you’re making adjustments. If you are unable to get coverage, please reach out to Marley or Kimmee for help getting it covered.

• Cell phones must be left in the office or the kitchen to be checked periodically or to look something up for a guest. If you do need to use your phone, please do so in the office or the kitchen. (Shift leads will be using their phones for more things)

  • If you are taking photos of the animals during your shift, please be sure to share them with us so we can use them for social media posts. We have a Google Photos album we can share with you, or you can send photos to Dawn (her cell phone number is posted on the clipboard)

• We do not let guests take animals out without a volunteer name tag, and then as volunteers they are sharing the animals with other guests. I know that in the slow season rules get relaxed a bit, but we need to “tidy-up” this behavior because it is very confusing and frustrating to other guests. Yes, we do get to know the families that come often, but we cannot give them preferential treatment or let them be rude to other guests (it was guest children in this case). I will be calling Amanda this week, so she will be in the know, and is welcome to volunteer if she wants to get the animals out.

• REMINDER: $5 charge for extra guests coming with members. (Plus families get 2 free guests, any additional guests pay $5 each) — please use the button called “Member Guest” to charge them $5 per additional person. If there’s any issues, let the customer be right ;)
