Our Flagship Ambassadors

We have so many Animal Ambassadors here at Cognition that we don’t want to overload a webpage. This page will showcase several of our friends so you get an idea of who is around when you visit.

  • Severus

    BALL PYTHON

Arriving at COGNiTiON in 2017 as an injured baby snake-Sevy is a fan favorite of the center. His calm demeanor and extremely outgoing personality makes him our top candidate for traveling field trips and center cuddles.

  • Dandy

    SULCATA TORTOISE

Dandy was a rescued stray, brought to us by a caring family in Aug 2017. Then he was a tiny little fellow, maybe about 10 inches long. Now he has grown and stomped on many hearts and shoes through the years!

  • Archie

    AFRICAN DWARF HEDGEHOG

Born in 2022, Archie is a spunky sweet little dude full of bristles and attitude. He enjoys a nice bug snack and having cuddles on guests laps.

Our more center exclusive animals.

  • Velcro

    BLUE TUXEDO SEA URCHIN

Located inside our ocean aquarium is a variety of animals, one of which is our Sea Urchin. Velco can be found traveling the tank with a fancy hat of algae, a living tube worm, and the occasional distressed hermit crab.

Other common and uncommon creatures live in the ocean aquarium too. If staff aren’t present to identify them-we have a magnet system that you can interact with and learn about the tank inhabitants.

  • Pixie & Sprite

    STANDARD & DUMBO RATS

We got these babies in January 20th 2025 (from a reputable breeder) and think they are the sweetest and silliest rats we’ve had! With two different personalities but a whole lot of love for all—these two will send giggles into the most reserved child/adult. Pixie will give you kisses until she deems you clean and Sprite will climb onto your shoulder and enjoy the vantage point.

  • Slinky

    FERRET

Slinky is our free-range Ferret who gets to roam the center from opening until naptime (he puts himself away). He loves romping with the guests, stealing toys and getting into mischief.

Let us introduce you to our newest Ambassador.

Our newest ball python is a Spider/Pin Stripe Morph. This means he has a very unusual coloration than a standard Ball Python but that also means he is a disabled snake. Gifted to us by our local Benzie County Animal Control & Shelter, he will live his days with us while receiving the care and attention his special needs require.

Our magical hands-on animal experiences are made possible by the donations of our supportive community!
